DAVID COSGROVE
FOR TOWNSHIP COMMITTEE

Mr. Cosgrove is a longtime resident and recently retired attorney. He is a graduate of Tulane University and received his law degree from Quinnipiac University.

Dave moved to Short Hills in 1989 with his wife, Jeanne, an attorney and former nurse. Their two children, Mary and Tim, are both Millburn High School graduates.

Dave is an active member of our community. He was a former Boy Scout Leader of Troop 15 and is a proud parent of an Eagle Scout. He served on the town’s Shade Tree Commission and is currently a member of the Planning Board. He is also the current President of the Short Hills Association. Dave practiced law for over 40 years before retiring in 2023. He was a trial lawyer in both New York and New Jersey. For many years, his office was in Short Hills. The last 20 years of his career, Dave was an in-house attorney providing legal advice on contractual
issues and related matters.

Mr. Cosgrove stated, “ I believe my broad contacts among the people and businesses in the Township, legal experience, willingness to gather different views/perspectives, and my ability to analyze issues and address them in a comprehensive way could be well utilized. I hope to bring that skill set to the TC and serve all the residents of our community. “

MY VISION

David believes that transparency is one of the biggest issues facing Millburn; he says,

"While progress has been made on this front, there is much more to do, particularly on timing.

I’d like to see a fundamental change in mindset from looking at the flow of information to residents as a chore ( provide only what we “have” to) to a way to welcome,

encourage, and embrace citizen involvement."

He also believes he is uniquely suited to helping Millburn deal with ongoing litigation issues.

"While retired, I have practiced law for 40 years. Half that time was litigation, and half was corporate law. My practice was in Millburn for 8 years. I have been taking all fair-share courses that I can find and reading available literature. With my background, available time, and interest, I can assist the town in making decisions."

"I want to restore thetrust between our communityand our local government."-David Cosgrove
